Dragon
this dragon was one of the first models we attempted in metal, but the sheer weight of it made it unviable especially the body, so the mold has sat dusty on our mold rack for almost 2 years. earlier this year we got into resin casting for some other unrelated jobs, which opened the oppertunity to do this dragon as a mixed materiel kit, one day this kit will likely be a full resin kit, but in the meantime ive done a small run of 10 as a mixed materiels kit with a resin Cast body which was the big issue with the orignal one, with pewter limbs for those of you who love the really hefty models
This kit contains:
1 x Dragon model made up from 8 metal components and a Resin cast body.
1 x base
some notes for assembly
i found building the 2 of these i have, to glue the legs and tail on first so the model stands upright before attaching wings, the wings, legs and tail are all intended to be stuck to the base, for the wings especially that means they have 2 points of contact with the model and i have found dont require pinning on the 2 i have built, you need to build up from the base a small greenstuff or putty mound for the wing nuckles and tail to reach the base,
there will be a bit of gap filling around some of the joins, my suggestion aswell is to mix a small amount of putty to put inside the joins to fill the gaps, i put superglue on both sides, then put a ball of putty in the female connecter end that gets squashed and fills all the empty space, when dry ive found it to be much stronger then straight super glue
cleaning the parts is a bit different to our usual metal figures, this is much more a kit youll need to do some work on the parts to get the most out of it. These metal parts for the dragon are much bigger, the gates usually for the figures are under the puddle base and dont need much cleaning, for this model especially the wings the sprue gates are along one edge of the wing, this will need some sanding, shaving with a knife to make smooth. the resin peices gate is on the front of the neck and will sand down very easily. this resin cast uses talc as a mold release not a spray and i dont think needs to be washed,
